HOA IS A NUT-FREE CAMPUS We have a number of students at HOA that have life threatening peanut/nut allergies. Prevention is the best approach. Therefore, we ask your cooperation in not sending any class treats or snacks containing peanut/nut products to school with your child. Please let me know if you have any questions about this, thank you so much for your cooperation.

REPTILE GUY Next Tuesday, January 29 from 1:00-2:00, we will have a special all-school (K-12) visit from The Reptile Guy in our gym. Chess will be cancelled for that day. Parents are welcome to attend if a volunteer application is on file with the district. Please let me know if you have any questions.
ART CLUB This year, Art Club will have a watercolor focus, with special guests coming in a few times to share different mediums. Our new Art Club instructor is Jullane Rich and she is with Influence Music Hall in Downtown Hillsboro. She has taught art classes and children's groups in our area for many years. Group 1 is currently full, but I am still taking rsvp's for Group 2, which will meet April 30, May 7, 14, 21, 28, and June 4.
SPORTS CLUB We are extending the Thursday Sports Club with Ms. Stubbs through February. The remaining meeting dates are January 24, February 14, 21, and 28 (NO PE OR SPORTS CLUB ON FEB 7).
PARENT CONNECT our next Parent Connect meeting is February 4 from 11:00-12:00. Coffee and treats will be provided. Contact our Homeschool Consultant, Angela Lorenzo, at [email protected], with any questions.
OREGON FOOD BANK FIELD TRIP We are going to the Beaverton location of the Oregon Food Bank on Tuesday, February 19. Please be at HOA by 8:15, the bus will be leaving at 8:30. We will return to HOA at 11:50. Since we will be gone all morning, please pack a snack for your student to eat before PE (if they are staying). I would love to have 5-6 more parent volunteers. In addition, I have attached a photo release form to the Oregon Food Bank that needs to be filled out for all students going for first time. Students who have been there before do not need to fill one out. I also have hard copies here at school if you are unable to print at home. Please let me know if you can help. PLEASE RSVP for this field trip, students and adult chaperones.

SCIENCE FAIR Thursday, April 18, will be our K-8 Science Fair Night in the gym. I am preparing the Science Fair packet for this year and will send it home by the middle/end of February (I'll also have a PDF version). This is a 100% at home project, but I will have tri-fold boards to give to all students participating. In addition, if students are registered in Science in Odysseyware, their Science coursework will be paused from April 1-18 as they work on their project.
STATE TESTING April is state testing month at HOA. We will be pausing all clubs in April (with the exception of PE and Group 2 of Art Club starting on April 30).
