HOA IS A NUT-FREE CAMPUS We have a number of students at HOA that have life threatening peanut/nut allergies. Prevention is the best approach. Therefore, we ask your cooperation in not sending any class treats or snacks containing peanut/nut products to school with your child. Please let me know if you have any questions about this, thank you so much for your cooperation.

CAR ASSESSMENT Sixth graders looking to attend one of our 4 middle schools, Evergreen, Poynter, South Meadows, or Brown, next year are being asked to complete the CAR Assessment (Compacted Algebra Readiness). This is one piece of data that will help determine your child's Math placement for next year. If your student will be attending HOA in the Fall as a 7th grader, they do not need to do it. I will administer the CAR Assessment on Thursday, April 4 from 10:00-11:00 here at HOA. Please let me know if you have any questions about this, again, this is only for 6th graders leaving HOA for one of our other middle schools this Fall.
ART CLUB I have a few spots left in Art Club session 2 starting April 30. Please let me know if you'd like your student to attend. In addition, current art club student's artwork is displayed at Influence Music Hall in Downtown Hillsboro and can be viewed during Art Walk (the first Tuesday of each month in the evening), or Fridays after 6:30.
7TH GRADE FORECASTING If you are planning on having your current 6th grader enroll in their neighborhood middle school instead of HOA next year, you will want to contact that school's counselor to get started on forecasting for next year. If your student will be staying here for 7th grade, we will do our own forecasting. Stay tuned for details.
SCIENCE FAIR JUDGES On the day of the Science Fair, students will bring in and present their project to a judge. I am looking for 10 parents who would like to volunteer to help with the judging on the day of the Science Fair. The time commitment will be 12:00-2:30 here at HOA. If you are unable to be here the whole time, that's totally fine, just let me know. I will provide you with the questions to ask and grading rubric, it will be easy and fun!
