HOA IS A NUT-FREE CAMPUS We have a number of students at HOA that have life threatening peanut/nut allergies. Prevention is the best approach. We ask your cooperation in not sending any class treats or snacks containing peanut/nut products to school with your child. Please let me know if you have any questions about this, thank you so much for your cooperation.
GERMS, ILLNESSES, AND ON-SITE CLASSES Given Ms. Stubbs recent cancer diagnosis and subsequent chemotherapy treatments, we are asking families to keep students at home if they are not feeling well, particularly if there is a fever. We will be using hand sanitizer frequently as a precaution while students are on campus. If you have any specific questions for Ms. Stubbs, her email is [email protected].
NEW NEWS*****************************************************************
LUNCH/SNACK TIME AT HOA Your students may be here at HOA over their normal lunch time. The only scheduled lunch time for your students is during their Monday STEAM Class while they are with me. The rest of the days will be more of a quick snack in between classes. If your student attends Monday STEAM Class, you are welcome to pack a nut-free lunch or a good snack. They will have 20-25 minutes to eat, during which time I will do a read-a-loud. Tuesday through Thursday, a granola bar or string cheese (or something like that) will probably be more appropriate due to time constraints.
ENGINEERING CLUBS Advanced Engineering Club is open to students in grades 4-8 at HOA who have successfully completed one year of Engineering Club and are interested in working on longer term projects. Students in Advanced Engineering Club are encouraged to also continue with Engineering Club. In Engineering Club, students will learn about engineering by completing design challenges and activities. We will also be introducing the use of engineering notebooks, personal protective equipment, and technical writing. Engineering Club is open to students at HOA in grades 3-8.
CLOGGING CLUB Clogging, or power tap, is a recreational dance style where the number one aim is to HAVE FUN!!! We use music from all genres to inspire energetic, cardio pumping dances for all levels. The secret is in the double step. A unique stomp of the foot which creates extra rhythm and sound. Give it a try! Your heart and feet will be glad you did. This club is open to students in grades 3-6 and their parents. Please wear tie-on shoes to class, clogging shoes are not a requirement (no sandals or slip on shoes).
MOBYMAX MATH PLACEMENT TEST By now, you should have received your student's MobyMax login information. If you did not, please let me know and I can send it to you. Last Monday, I asked all students registered in Odysseyware to take the Math Placement Test in MobyMax by this Friday. Please check in with your student today to see where they are with this. The placement test is not graded, it just helps MobyMax to know what lessons to assign. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
MRS. KELLAR'S STEAM CLASS This year, STEAM Class will be on Monday's from 10:00-12:00, and we will alternate between 3rd-4th grades one week, and 5th-6th the next week, and so on. If you have students in both classes and want them to be in the same class, please message me. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. There will be two main objectives for this class, exposure to STEAM concepts and having fun with friends! Each class, we will do some type of fun, hands-on, group project related to a STEAM concept. In addition, the last 20-30 minutes of class will be lunch/snack time and I will be reading aloud to them. When packing lunches/snacks for your student, please remember that we are a nut free campus.
