OREGON FOOD BANK FIELD TRIP AND CANNED FOOD DRIVE CONTEST Our 5th and 6th grade Tuesday class has risen to the challenge! It looks like they are now in the lead for our canned food drive! Please bring any canned or non-perishable food to class (or drop it off at HOA anytime) during the month of December. The winning class will receive a special surprise at their last face-to-face class before Winter Break begins! Please let me know if you have any questions. Here is a website that will tell you which foods Oregon Food Bank needs the most:

Our fieldtrip to the Oregon Food Bank is scheduled for Thursday, December 11. Please arrive at HOA by 8:30, we will return to the school by 12:00. I am looking for 10 parent volunteers to come with us. If you are interested, please make sure that your volunteer application is current through the Hillsboro School District and let me know so I can put you down on the list. I am really excited about this fieldtrip and look forward to the opportunity to serve our community with your students during this time of year. Permission slips are located in the Forms section of my website (www.mrskellar.weebly.com) or your student can pick one up at the school in December.
CONFERENCES? We will not be doing conferences on November 21st and 24th like the brick and mortar schools in the district. Instead, what I will do is contact families within the next few weeks that I need to meet with and scheduling meetings with you during the week of November 17-21. If you feel like you would like to meet with me, please contact me and we can schedule a meeting. If your student is doing well and you don’t have any concerns, I will not need to meet with you for a formal conference. However, I always enjoy talking with my families, so please feel free to request a meeting and I can absolutely fit you in.
NO SCHOOL DAYS I am (cautiously optimistic) happy to tell you that we are working on getting a fix in place for our NO SCHOOL DAYS situation. Currently, Accelerate Ed shows school work due on no school days (like report card days and holidays), which is not how it should be. Unfortunately, we will not have this in place by next week, so your student’s Due Soon boxes will still be full over the holiday week. Our plan is to begin making the changes during the first week in December. I am extending the deadline for semester one work by one week to help ease the final push to get work in. If you have any questions about this, please let me know.
As always, it is a pleasure working with you all! I am encouraged by the progress I am seeing in your children on a daily basis. Keep up the good work!
