STATE TESTING AND TEST PREP
As you can see from the above dates, we will not be having regular face-to-face class meetings during the month of May. We will still have Coding Club and our Zoo fieldtrip on May 21. A few weeks ago, we worked on practice tests for the SBAC, the state test. Below is the link and directions to get to the practice tests. I would encourage you to do the test with your student several times over a few days. The questions will change and it will give you a good idea of what the questions will be like on the test.
1. Go to : http://sbac.portal.airast.org/practice-test/
2. Click on the practice test icon at the bottom of the page
3. On the next page, click on sign in, do not change any of the info
4. Select your student’s grade, then click YES
5. The tests you can take are the Practice Tests and Performance Tasks. You can take the Training Tests, but I would do the Practice Tests first.
ELEMENTARY PARENT LISTENING SESSION
Are you the parent of an HOA elementary student? Do you have some great ideas for our elementary program for next year? If you answered yes to one or both of these questions, we would like to invite you to a listening session with Mrs. Harrington on Tuesday, May 5 at 6:30, right here at HOA. Come with your ideas and questions. If you won’t be able to make it, you are welcome to send your ideas to my school email, or Mrs. Harrington at [email protected].
7th GRADE FORECASTING Parents of 6th graders, if you were unable to make it to our parent meeting, please contact Brandi Tarrel, our school counselor, at [email protected] to arrange a time to come in and get information.
RAZ App
Your student can now do their reading on RAZ Kids through an app! Go to your app store on any mobile device and search for RAZ kids. It’s free and they can log in using there login information.
PARTNERSHIP WITH PARKS AND REC
If your student is enrolled in 4 core courses at HOA (Math, LA, Science, and Social Studies), you will have $100 to spend on classes and activities in the Winter/Spring catalog. NOT the SUMMER catalog. If your student is enrolled in 3 core courses, you will have $75 to spend. If your students in enrolled in 2 core courses, you will have $50 to spend. If your student is enrolled in 1 core course, you will have $25 to spend. You will not get the difference back. Right now, go grab a catalog, choose your course, and register your student like you normally would. Kristina, our office manager here at HOA will be in charge of the reimbursements, so save your receipt. There is a form that you will need to take in to the classes to satisfy attendance requirements. It is attached to this email and will also be in the FORMS tab on my Weebly website. Please let me know if you have any questions. This is so exciting for us and we welcome your feedback on it.
