PE STARTS SEPTEMBER 10 We will be starting our on-site activities with PE beginning the week of September 10. Grades 3-6 PE will be Monday-Wednesday 12:00-1:00. Some reminders about PE, wear appropriate clothing and shoes for running and being active, and bring a water bottle. ODYSSEYWARE SUPPORT SESSIONS Next week we will have two OW support sessions, Monday and Tuesday 9:00-12:00. This is for the student and parent to get help with the OdysseyWare curriculum. Due to the importance of the parent role, the parent should attend with the student. It is a drop-in help session, you don't need to stay the entire time.

PICTURE DAY INFO Picture day for elementary students was on September 4. Visit mylifetouch.com and enter our picture day ID, FO748105Q0, to order. If you missed picture day, we will have retakes (date TBD).
COMMUNICATION The primary form of communication that I will use throughout the year to convey information is email. Weekly newsletters will be sent on Wednesday mornings (please make sure that we have your preferred email on file).
FACEBOOK/INSTAGRAM This year, we will have a closed group on Facebook that will be used share information and photos throughout the school year. Search HOA Elementary 2018-2019 in Facebook and request to be added, or use this link https://www.facebook.com/groups/HOAelementary/. You will need to answer a question about how you are connected to HOA (only parents or guardians of students will be approved). Some people are having trouble finding the group in Facebook. You may need to click on "Groups" once you've typed the name into the search bar. We also have a school-wide Instagram, just search Hillsboro Online academy and request to follow.
OUTDOOR SCHOOL Outdoor School for 6th graders will be at Cedar Ridge on October 3-5. We will have a parent meeting next week, Wednesday, September 12 from 12:00-1:00 (during PE). Come with your questions and completed sign up forms (that you picked up at orientation). I will have extra if you need one.
SEPTEMBER FIELDTRIP Our first fieldtrip will be Thursday, September 27 from 12:00-1:30 at Jackson Bottom Wetlands. The bus will leave from HOA at 11:45 and return at 1:45. You can also provide your own transportation, but please let me know in advance. Your student should have eaten a full lunch and wear appropriate clothing and shoes for the weather as our fieldtrip will be fully outside. In addition, I would LOVE to have parent volunteers attend. Please fill out the volunteer application on the district website, https://volunteerapplication.hsd.k12.or.us/, as soon as possible, and let me know if you'd like to attend.
ON-SITE SCHEDULE We are still working on our on-site schedule of activities and will hopefully have it finalized this week. For now, refer back to the letter you received this summer (I have also attached an image to this email) for the September schedule. With the exception of PE which starts September 10, our on-site activities will start the first week of October.
