HOA IS A NUT-FREE CAMPUS We have a number of students at HOA that have life threatening peanut/nut allergies. Prevention is the best approach. We ask your cooperation in not sending any class treats or snacks containing peanut/nut products to school with your child. Please let me know if you have any questions about this, thank you so much for your cooperation.

WATERCOLORS SESSION #2 Please respond to this email if your student is interested in participating in our second session of watercolors. The meeting dates are Feb 11,18,25, March 3,10, 17 from 10:30-12:00. Preference will be given to students who were not in the previous session. If your student was in the previous session and would like to do it again, please let me know and I will put them on a waiting list. The club will be capped at 20 students.
HEARING SCREENING We will have free hearing screenings here at HOA for our students in grades 1 and 3, on Monday, January 27 at 10:00.
FLASH ALERT Now is a great time to make sure you are signed up to receive messages from Flash Alert/HSD regarding school closures and delays. You can sign up on their website, https://www.flashalert.net/
WEATHER AND ON-SITE ACTIVITIES With how unpredictable our weather has been lately, I wanted to remind all of our families that all on-site activities (at least at the K-6 level) are optional and, therefore, not required. If you ever feel unsure about driving your student here for an activity due to the weather, please stay home. If the district cancels school, on-site activities are cancelled. Your student's due dates in Odysseyware will not change and they will have to make up the work at some point, so I usually recommend doing some work on cancelled school days. If the district announces a delay, please check your email for information from HOA about possible club cancellations. You can also call into the school to see if any of the on-site activities are cancelled.
FIELD TRIP TO NEW SEASONS We have a grades 3-6 field trip coming upon Tuesday, January 28 from 10:00-11:30 at the New Season grocery store in Orenco Station, 1453 NE 61st Ave, Hillsboro, OR 97124. ***Unfortunately, we will not have use of a school bus, so this will be parent drop-off/pick-up AT NEW SEASONS. I do need rsvp's for this field trip due to space limitations at the store (40 people max), so please let me know if your student will be attending. Parents dropping off students should not plan on staying, but can stay initially to see if there is room. I am not in need of additional chaperones at this time. Please let me know if you have any questions about this field trip, I recognize that the protocols are a little different this time. Due to the field trip on January 28, Messy Art will be cancelled. PE and Handwriting Club will go on as scheduled.
