CHECK-IN QUESTION For those of you who have students participating in OdysseyWare (our online curriculum), is there anything you are confused about?
FIELD TRIP Next Thursday, September 21, is our first field trip of the year. We will be going on a walking field trip to Downtown Hillsboro. Please have your student at HOA by 9:45. Please pack a sack lunch for your student. The walking tour will go from 10:00-11:30. At 11:30, we will meet at Bagley Park, at 2nd and Jackson St. (one block from HOA), for a picnic lunch. Parents and siblings are welcome to join us for lunch and play time at the park. Pick-up is at 12:00 at Bagley Park. In order for this field trip to run smoothly, I am looking for 8-10 parent volunteers. Please let me know if you are able to come as a chaperone and have completed your Volunteer Application on the school district website. Parents who just join us for lunch at the park are not required to fill out volunteer applications.
CHECK-INS This is the last week to practice check-ins. You all have been credited for one face-to-face check in if you came to school anytime this week, so all I would need is one additional email this week and your student will have perfect attendance for the second week of school. Next week, check-ins will begin to count toward attendance.

Please let me know if you're interested. There is a training coming up at the end of September that we would like this parent to attend.

OUTDOOR SCHOOL PARENT MEETING Sixth grade parents! Please mark your calendars for Thursday, September 28 from 11:00-12:00, during 6-8th grade PE, for a parent meeting about Outdoor School. Come with your questions and completed forms. We'll explore the Cedar Ridge website and have lots of time for a Q & A session.
SPECIAL PROJECTS/END OF THE UNIT TESTS I am busy getting together a project list and rubrics for the Special Project option at the end of each unit in OdysseyWare. Some students have already gotten to them, great job! Since my list is not yet complete, please have students take the test for now. I should have the options up and running by next week. I have just recently added a third option for the end of each unit. If a student has received a cumulative score of over 90% for the unit, they can skip the end of the unit Special Project or Test. Just have the student send me a message in OdysseyWare and I will manually skip it for them.
MRS. KELLAR'S OFFICE HOURS I am here at HOA Monday-Thursday from 8:00-3:00. If you have concerns or questions, please email me and we can set up a time to meet. Pop-ins are generally not encouraged as there is no guarantee that I will be available or at my desk.
PARENT CONNECT The first Parent Connect meeting is October 4 from 9:00-10:30 here at HOA.
