HOA IS A NUT-FREE CAMPUS We have a number of students at HOA that have life threatening peanut/nut allergies. Prevention is the best approach. Therefore, we ask your cooperation in not sending any class treats or snacks containing peanut/nut products to school with your child. Please let me know if you have any questions about this, thank you so much for your cooperation.
NEW NEWS******************************************************************
ENGINEERING CLUB If your student is in Engineering Club, please plan on having them attend an additional Engineering Club meeting tomorrow, March 14, from 10:00-11:00 to make up for the snow day.
PI DAY CELEBRATION Our secondary Math teacher, Ms. Thompson, is hosting our annual Pi Day Celebration for students in grades 3 and up tomorrow, March 14 from 12:00-1:30. A popular activity is the digits of Pi recitation contest! She is looking for a few parent volunteers to help with activities, please let her know if you are available at [email protected].
CAR ASSESSMENT Sixth graders looking to attend one of our 4 middle schools, Evergreen, Poynter, South Meadows, or Brown, next year are being asked to complete the CAR Assessment (Compacted Algebra Readiness). This is one piece of data that will help determine your child's Math placement for next year. If your student will be attending HOA in the Fall as a 7th grader, they do not need to do it. I will administer the CAR Assessment on Thursday, April 4 from 10:00-11:00 here at HOA. Please let me know if you have any questions about this, again, this is only for 6th graders leaving HOA for one of our other middle schools this Fall.
STATE TESTING I will send a separate email about state testing. Please be sure to read it to see if/when your student needs to be here next month.
ART CLUB I have a 4 spots open in Art Club session 2 starting April 30. Please let me know if you'd like your student to attend. In addition, current art club student's artwork is displayed at Influence Music Hall in Downtown Hillsboro and can be viewed during Art Walk (the first Tuesday of each month in the evening), or Fridays after 6:30.
