HOA IS A NUT-FREE CAMPUS We have a number of students at HOA that have life threatening peanut/nut allergies. Prevention is the best approach. Therefore, we ask your cooperation in not sending any class treats or snacks containing peanut/nut products to school with your child. Please let me know if you have any questions about this, thank you so much for your cooperation.
NEW NEWS******************************************************************
CAR ASSESSMENT Sixth graders looking to attend one of our 4 middle schools, Evergreen, Poynter, South Meadows, or Brown, next year are being asked to complete the CAR Assessment (Compacted Algebra Readiness). This is one piece of data that will help determine your child's Math placement for next year. If your student will be attending HOA in the Fall as a 7th grader, they do not need to do it. I will administer the CAR Assessment this Thursday, April 4 from 10:00-11:00 here at HOA. Please let me know if you have any questions about this, again, this is only for 6th graders leaving HOA for one of our other middle schools this Fall.
K-6 PAJAMA AND MOVIE PARTY As a reward for winning the Oregon Food Bank Food Drive, our K-6 students are being treated to a fun movie and popcorn in the gym on Thursday, April 11 from 12:00-1:30. They can come in their (school appropriate) pajamas and bring a sleeping bag, pillow, and one medium sized stuffed animal (think Build-a-Bear size).
SCIENCE FAIR Our 6th Annual HOA Science Fair is next week! On the day of the fair, third graders should come to the gym at 1:00, 4th at 1:20, 5th at 1:40, and 6th at 2:00 for judging. Your student should set up their display board and any props they will need. They will be asked basic questions about their project by a volunteer parent or HOA staff member. As soon as their one interview is complete, they are allowed to head out for the afternoon. Please leave projects in the gym for presentation that evening at the Science Fair. The Science Fair is from 5:30-7:00. The fair is open to anyone and will include Science projects from HOA students in grades 3-8! There will also be some fun, interactive activity areas and games set up for everyone to enjoy. During the fair, I would like all students to take a turn standing at their board ready to talk about their projects. Third graders should be at their board from 5:45-6:00, fourth from 6:00-6:15, fifth from 6:15-6:30, and sixth from 6:45-7:00. Students should take their projects home at the conclusion of the evening.
