NEW NEWS******************************************************************************
THURSDAY ODYSSEYWARE EMAIL Starting today, I will be sending the Thursday Odysseyware Email to parents if their students are behind by at least three lessons in at least one subject. It will be a generic message. If you receive this email, please take a moment to log into OW with your student and work together to come up with a plan to get caught up. If you need support with this, please let me know.
ODYSSEYWARE PROJECTS Your student will need your help with Projects. We recommend taking a look at the Projects in advance to determine if additional supplies are needed, how much time your student may need to complete the Project, and what your role will be as you support your student. The date listed is the due date, not the start date. Please help us by not allowing your student to work ahead with Language Arts Projects, since many of them require participation in the lessons directly preceding them to be successful. Some Projects, however, can be started before the due date, for example a Science Project that involves the two-week observation of seeds and roots. Please start those types of Projects ahead of time. Written essays should be well researched and should take more than one sitting to complete. The expectation is that students will have completed an editing process that checks for spelling, grammar, and conventions, with your help, or the help of Google Docs or a Word program. It is possible that OW may also have lessons due on the same day as a project. It’s okay. Our recommendation, if that comes up, is to complete the lessons first. If the project is turned in after the due date, that's fine. Your student’s project will not receive a reduced score if it’s turned in after the due date. In addition, we will do our best to be flexible with Science Project supplies and adjust as needed. If you are unable to acquire supplies, please email your teacher and we can adjust the supply list as long as the objective of the lesson is still met.
CHECKING GRADES IN ODYSSEYWARE

ODYSSEYWARE GRADING SCALE Converting number/letter grades to E's, M's, NM's, and NY's is challenging, but we have this year's grading scale for you so you can see what your student's percentage grades on OW compare to when it comes to report cards. Out of 100, 90-100 is an E, 80-89 is an M, 70-79 is an NM, and under 70 is an NY. Please let our Dean of Students, Shannon Freudenthal, know if you have any questions at [email protected].
EPIC Epic is the leading digital reading platform—built on a collection of 40,000+ popular, high-quality books from 250+ of the world’s best publishers—that safely fuels curiosity and reading confidence for kids 12 and under. Our class code is aan8570, join us! Please email me or have your student message me in OW for their pin. You can access Epic from your home computer or laptop, or from a smart device with their app!
ATTENDANCE Per the Oregon Department of Education, HOA is required to take daily attendance during school days. Things that count for attendance include a student actively working in Odysseyware, a student sending a teacher a message in OW, and an email or any type of communication from a parent to the teacher. As long as one of these things is done each school day, your student will be in attendance. Please let me know if you have any questions about this.
ODYSSEYWARE ORIENTATION VIDEO I wanted to pop this video here in case it would beneficial for anyone to watch it again. This is that 3-minute video you saw when you first logged into Odysseyware.
