AIR FAIR! The Port of Portland invites you to the 14th Annual Hillsboro Airport Air Fair on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. The address is 3355 NE Cornell Rd. Hillsboro, OR. There are a ton of fun activities for kids PLUS there is not an entrance fee.
SCHOLASTIC You have two weeks to get your orders in for our October book order from Scholastic (order will be placed on October 31). Our class code is MH739, please type that in when you register/order online. All students who order in October will receive a FREE holographic Minecraft bookmark! They are pretty cool!
ADOBE READER I have been receiving many more PDF’s with answers this week and last. Hooray! It looks like many of you were able to download Adobe Reader and things are going much better. Our district laptops will need version 11.0.5 to be able to type into PDF’s. Below are links to the videos that will tell you how to do it if you are still having issues:

PICTURE RETAKES! Mark your calendars! Wednesday, October 22 from 1:00-3:00 is our picture retake day. You can pick up a form the next time you are at school to pre-order pictures or day of.
FIELDTRIP! Coming up next week is our first fieldtrip to Jackson Bottom Wetlands here in Hillsboro. The field trip is on Thursday, October 23rd. We will leave at 8:45 and be back at 11:45. Please do not pack your student a lunch that day. Please arrive at HOA no later than 8:30 to drop off your student for the fieltrip. I now have 6 committed parent chaperones, but need a few more. Please let me know as soon as possible if you would like to come with us. Field trips are not required but are a really cool part of the elementary program at HOA.
Don’t forget to check your student’s progress on a daily basis. Two important things to be looking at are PACE and GRADES. Is my student on pace? How is my student doing grade-wise? These are all things that should be discussed each day with your student to make sure that they are where they should be. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email or call. I appreciate all that you do to help your student have a successful year!
